The Haunted Spyhouse
Historical:
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Seabrook Wilson House (formally known as The Spyhouse) is one of the oldest surviving houses in Monmouth County’s bayshore region, with ties to the area’s early British settlement and colonial maritime history. The existing house was constructed in several phases over the course of two hundred years. The oldest section dates from the early 1700s, with multiple additions built by the Seabrook and Wilson families in the 1700s and 1800s. With its waterfront setting and commanding views of Sandy Hook Bay and New York City, the house is a valued landmark to the surrounding community.
Click here for more information on the house and the restoration effort.
Haunted:
The NJ Shore has a abundance of unique places, and at the top of the list is the Haunted Spy House. Built in the 1700s, it is one of the state’s oldest, and most haunted, residences.
The home houses numerous ghosts:
1. Tom-a spirit who follows you home.
2. The Revered-A reverend who stays upstairs.
3. Gertrude-Who haunts the pier.
4. The Captain-Who (apparently) sits on the benches behind the house.
5. The Boy-Who stares out towards Brooklyn.
6. The Girls-Who dance on the front lawn.
7. British Soldier-Who also stares blankly over the bay.

The End of an Bayshore Tradition
Richards Way 2006
After a dozen years of beautiful lights displays at their home, the Lights on Richard's Way have dimmed. Decoration and light strings are being sold to first come, first served. But although this year's display is only a quarter of what it was, there is still plenty to see. Come witness the end of a Bayshore institution while you still can. We took our grandchildren to the beach before dinner and were surprised by a dark ominous cloud trying to form funnels.
